[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Songpa-gu (District Mayor Seongsu Park·photo) is making various efforts to develop Songpa into a MICE city visited by people worldwide in line with the creation of the Jamsil International Exchange Complex District and changes in the MICE industry environment.

In particular, the district announced on the 6th that it will officially launch a MICE expert training project for residents to boost the MICE industry in Songpa-gu.

Recently, in the MICE field, hybrid events using both online and offline formats have been increasing due to the impact of COVID-19, requiring practical skills to respond to the rapidly changing MICE industry such as video shooting, editing, broadcasting, and hybrid event planning.

Accordingly, the district will focus on cultivating practical skills that can be immediately applied in the MICE industry field by conducting a total of 145 hours of the "Songpa-gu MICE Professional Training Program."

The main contents include ▲ overall theory of the MICE industry ▲ hybrid event planning ▲ digital MICE ▲ online marketing strategies ▲ event hosting practice ▲ expert mentoring, structured as a practical training course.

Additionally, a symposium is prepared where participants can directly plan, promote, and operate MICE events specialized for Songpa-gu. Beyond practice, this provides trainees with a special opportunity to host events themselves, aiming to strengthen practical skills.

The recruitment target is Songpa-gu residents aged 20 to 40 who are interested in the MICE industry and proficient in foreign languages and computer use.

Applications can be submitted by visiting or emailing the Songpa Women's Human Resources Development Center by 3 p.m. on the 14th.

Selection results will be individually notified on May 20.

Meanwhile, when the international exchange complex district is established around Jamsil Sports Complex in 2025, MICE-related companies (international conferences, travel, accommodation, event and exhibition companies, etc.) will be concentrated, expected to create large-scale employment and firmly establish Songpa-gu as a MICE city.

Since April, the district has formed a MICE Industry Support Committee and is striving to discover unique MICE support projects exclusive to Songpa.

Seongsu Park, Mayor of Songpa-gu, stated, “We will nurture excellent MICE talents specialized for Songpa-gu and prepare for the upcoming changes in the MICE industry ecosystem,” adding, “We will establish a sustainable MICE industry support system and build a MICE talent pool so that Songpa-gu can grow into a representative MICE city of Seoul.”
