KakaoTalk 'Dead' for Over 2 Hours... "Currently Restored" (Comprehensive)


[Asia Economy Reporter Buaeri] KakaoTalk experienced an error lasting over 2 hours on the 5th, causing significant inconvenience to users.


The KakaoTalk outage lasted approximately 2 hours and 20 minutes, from 9:47 PM on the 5th to 12:08 AM on the 6th.


A Kakao representative stated, "The emergency inspection has been completed, and the service is now operating normally," adding, "We apologize to those who experienced inconvenience."


On that day, KakaoTalk users experienced difficulties sending and receiving messages on both the PC and mobile versions, and some users were unable to log in to the PC version at all.


Users expressed their frustrations on social networking services (SNS) such as Twitter, saying things like, "I reinstalled the app and lost my chat rooms," and "KakaoTalk not working is disrupting my work."


The KakaoTalk error occurred six months after a similar incident in November last year. KakaoTalk had experienced two outages in March last year, a temporary error in July causing inconvenience to some users, and a message sending and receiving error lasting about 35 minutes in November.
