[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] Comedian Park Narae has been embroiled in a sexual harassment controversy, and the Naver TALK boards for the variety shows she currently appears on have been switched to private.
Park Narae is currently appearing on shows such as 'I Live Alone', 'Save Me! Holmes', 'Change Me Holmes', 'Amazing Saturday', 'Shinbakhan Jeongri', and 'Sseol Survival'.
In this regard, Naver stated that this measure was implemented to protect the cast members from abusive language, slander, and malicious comments.
As this news spread, netizens responded with criticism such as "If male celebrities did this, they would have been fired immediately," "It seems like they are protecting her a lot on the broadcast," and "If it were a man, he would be publicly shamed."
Earlier, Park Narae was involved in a controversy for making sexual harassment remarks on the YouTube web variety show 'Hey Narae'.
Park Narae introduced a male doll called 'Armstrong Man' and made sexual harassment remarks while touching a specific part.
As the controversy spread, Park Narae and the production team apologized, but the issue has not subsided. The 'Hey Narae' production team decided to cancel the program.
Meanwhile, the police received a complaint through the National Police Agency's online petition system requesting an investigation into illegal information distribution under the Information and Communications Network Act related to Park Narae's sexual harassment controversy and have completed the complainant investigation.
The police explained, "We could not access the video uploaded on YouTube, so we requested and received the video materials from the production company," adding, "We plan to review the context before and after the video to determine whether criminal punishment is applicable."
