[Asia Economy Reporter Eunmo Koo] The Seoul Metropolitan Government announced that from midnight to 9 p.m. on the 4th, a total of 236 new COVID-19 cases were tentatively counted in Seoul over a 21-hour period.
This is 60 more cases compared to the same time the previous day (176 cases) and 17 fewer than one week ago (253 cases on April 27). The total number of cases for the entire day was 184 on the 3rd and 257 on April 27.
The significant increase in cases on the 4th compared to the previous day is attributed to the rise in the number of tests conducted. On the 3rd, 35,554 people were tested, more than double the 15,575 tested on the 2nd. Over the past two weeks (April 19 to May 3), an average of 32,180 people were tested daily in Seoul, with 196 confirmed cases on average. COVID-19 test results are generally reported the following day and reflected in the confirmed case counts.
As of 9 p.m. on the 4th, the cumulative number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Seoul was tentatively counted at 38,761. The total number of cases for the day will be finalized after additional aggregation and removal of duplicates, and will be announced at midnight on the 5th.
