[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Kim Seon-gap, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, visited child facilities such as communal living homes and Our Neighborhood Care Centers in the district on the 4th in celebration of the upcoming Children's Day.

First, Mayor Kim visited Sabio and Kkotgaram, communal living homes located in Guui 2-dong, to encourage the efforts of facility workers amid the spread of COVID-19 and to listen to the status and conditions of the children under protection.

He also took time to introduce the crisis recovery disaster support fund provided by the district. The district supports communal living homes, which have been vulnerable to aid despite suffering damage from COVID-19, with 1 million KRW per facility from district funds.

Mayor Kim said, “I am grateful for the great efforts made to care for children who are vulnerable in terms of health,” adding, “Although operations are more difficult due to COVID-19, if basic quarantine rules such as wearing masks and regular ventilation are strictly followed, we will soon be able to return to normal life.”

Following this, Kim Seon-gap visited Our Neighborhood Care Center Gwangjin-gu Branch No. 7 located in Guui 3-dong.

Our Neighborhood Care Center provides care services so that dual-income parents can safely leave their children, and there are up to eight branches in Gwangjin-gu.

The service is available for children aged 6 to 12 and offers academic support such as homework and reading guidance, as well as special activities including art, cooking, and crafts.

On this day, the children had a time making cakes in celebration of Children's Day, and Mayor Kim also participated and delivered a congratulatory message.

Mayor Kim said, “I know children want to hold their parents’ hands, go to amusement parks, eat delicious food, and play excitedly, but if we all endure and be careful a little longer, next year we will celebrate Children's Day freely without masks.”

In celebration of the 99th Children's Day, Mayor Kim Seon-gap delivered congratulatory messages through 165 daycare centers and also produced a video message.

The congratulatory video message can be viewed on the district office’s website, official blog, and YouTube channel.
