Smartphone and Kiosk Usage... Dongjak-gu Provides Digital Skills Training Based on Life SOC Digital Competency Enhancement Training Center, Dongjak-gu

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dongjak-gu (Mayor Changwoo Lee) is conducting the "Digital Competency Enhancement Education Based on 생활SOC" from this month until December.

생활SOC refers to indirect capital used by residents in daily life to improve convenience, such as libraries and welfare centers, unlike large-scale SOC focused on space and development.

This project was prepared to strengthen user-centered digital competencies in response to the rapid shift to non-face-to-face work and class environments through digital means, such as the expansion of remote work, activation of video conferencing, and hybrid online/offline classes due to the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.

Last year, six 생활SOC locations were discovered, including the Sangdo 4-dong, Heukseok-dong, Daebang-dong informatization education centers near residents' homes, and the Dongjak Municipal Senior Welfare Center. The program was first conducted at the Daebang-dong informatization education center, with a total of 363 participants and a high satisfaction rate of over 98%.

To ensure smooth project implementation, the district operates by dividing into ▲ Digital Competency Enhancement Hub Center ▲ Fixed SOC using informatization education centers with existing digital education infrastructure ▲ Mobile SOC conducting visiting digital education.

First, the Dongjak-gu Informatization Education Center (74 Noryangjin-ro, 9th floor) is designated as the Digital Competency Enhancement Hub Center, where digital instructors and supporters are organized in pairs to provide education to seniors and residents in the area.

In particular, kiosks were installed in the education center last year to teach seniors how to use them, and special lectures are also offered for residents who find it difficult to attend daytime classes due to work or studies.

Additionally, four locations including ▲ Sangdo 4-dong Informatization Education Center (17 Yangnyeong-ro 27na-gil) ▲ Heukseok-dong Informatization Education Center (11 Heukseok Hangang-ro) ▲ Daebang-dong Informatization Education Center (35 Sangdo-ro) ▲ Dongjak Municipal Senior Welfare Center (7 Sangdo-ro 11-gil) conduct fixed SOC regular digital education.

Along with this, mobile SOC digital education is provided by utilizing vacant spaces in libraries, senior centers, and welfare centers to reach residents with mobility difficulties.

Specific education content includes ▲ Digital Basics - Mastering Smartphones, Digital Financial Fraud Prevention ▲ Digital Life - Learning Basic Kiosk Functions, Using Various Photo Apps, Understanding YouTube ▲ Digital Advanced - Starting Coding, Creating My Own AI Classifier.

Special courses include ▲ Understanding Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality ▲ Basics and Practice of 3D Printing ▲ AI Employment Connection Course, offering comprehensive programs to residents.

Any Dongjak-gu resident can participate, with priority given to digitally vulnerable groups such as the elderly, disabled, and multicultural families.

Residents wishing to participate can check the next month's courses on the Digital Learning Center website and register on a first-come, first-served basis starting from the 15th.

For inquiries about visiting education such as one-on-one visits, contact the Digital Education Call Center.

The district currently operates online education to prevent COVID-19 infection and plans to conduct in-person classes depending on social distancing levels.

Moon Jeongsoon, Director of the Future City Division, said, "We will do our best to promote this project so that any resident can improve the basic digital competencies necessary for daily life," and added, "We hope for the interest and participation of many residents."
