"Wants to Get Some Fresh Air" Wife Jumps into the Sea After Stopping the Car

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] A woman who was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle stopped on the shoulder of Incheon Bridge jumped into the sea and died.

According to the Incheon Coast Guard, at around 4:17 PM on the 2nd, a 119 emergency call was received reporting that A (59) had fallen into the sea from Incheon Bridge in Unnam-do, Jung-gu, Incheon.

Fire authorities and the coast guard who responded to the report searched the sea under Incheon Bridge and rescued A at around 4:49 PM, about 30 minutes after the fall.

After performing emergency treatment such as CPR, A was transported to a nearby hospital but ultimately passed away.

The reporter and driver of the vehicle, A’s husband B, reportedly told the coast guard, "My wife said she wanted to get some fresh air, so I stopped the car."

The coast guard believes that A made an extreme choice, and stated that they do not plan to request an autopsy on A’s body at the request of the bereaved family.
