[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Hyun] Haenam-gun, Jeollanam-do announced on the 3rd that the small cinema and youth complex cultural center are accelerating the final stages of construction ahead of their opening in July.

The small cinema and youth complex cultural center, being built in Haeri, Haenam-eup, are located on a 4,539㎡ site with a total area of 2,171㎡ in a four-story building. The first floor will operate as a cinema, and the second and third floors will be used as the youth complex cultural center.

The first-floor small cinema will feature two screening rooms with a total of 132 seats and a lounge area, serving as a cultural and leisure space for residents. Through a resident proposal review, the cinema was named "Haenam Cinema." Currently, construction is 90% complete, and interior work is underway. A cinema operator will be selected to screen high-quality films for the residents.

Additionally, the youth complex cultural center is in the final stages of construction, including interior work, landscaping, and parking lot creation, with all processes expected to be completed by the end of May.

The second floor will house dance practice rooms, individual and group practice rooms, and recording studios, where entertainment-related programs such as broadcast dance and vocal lessons will be conducted. It will also include study rooms and lounge areas.

The third floor will be filled with a multipurpose auditorium, offices, and a creative workshop room that will operate a book caf?, 3D printer utilization, and cooking classes.

Youth aged 9 to 24 will be able to use most of the facilities free of charge, while the general public can use them by paying a small fee on a secondary basis.

Haenam-gun is promoting the construction of the small cinema and youth complex cultural center as a key project of the 7th local government administration to address the lack of family-oriented cultural spaces in rural areas and support creative leisure activities for youth.

In particular, the small cinema project was once canceled during the 6th local government administration due to location issues but was newly pursued after the launch of the 7th administration. It is expected to resolve the long-standing wish of Haenam residents, who have had no cinema for nearly 30 years since the last theater closed in the mid-1990s.

Mayor Myeong Hyun-gwan stated, "The construction of the small cinema and youth complex cultural center, which are long-awaited projects by the residents, will provide an opportunity for family units to enjoy cultural benefits at leisure. We will ensure smooth construction and flawless operation to establish these as beloved cultural spaces for the residents."
