- The Hard Labor of Working Moms Starting Early in the Morning... Urgent Need for Solutions
- Doosan Construction Plans to Provide Various Facilities and Services to Address Working Moms' Difficulties
Although the issue of working moms is highlighted socially every year, no appropriate policy solutions have been proposed. While various benefits are provided to working moms from a welfare perspective, these do not constitute fundamental solutions.
Amid this, an apartment complex addressing the difficulties faced by working moms has emerged, attracting attention. The protagonist is ‘Doosan We’ve the Zenith Yangsan,’ built by Doosan Construction in the Yangsan area of Gyeongnam. This apartment complex consists of a total of 10 buildings, ranging from 2 basement floors to a maximum of 30 floors, and offers 1,368 households (exclusive areas of 59㎡ and 84㎡).
This apartment complex specializes landscaping and community facilities for working moms. As a large-scale apartment complex, it utilizes a wide land area to significantly expand differentiated and specialized landscaping facilities. Within the complex, a ‘Spring of Hometown’ themed park will be created. This will be an eco-friendly themed park harmonizing peach blossoms, apricot blossoms, and azalea flowers. In addition, a camping site and an outdoor water play area are provided within the complex so families can enjoy leisure activities without going far. Furthermore, differentiated community facilities such as a Moms’ Lounge, Kids Cafe, movie screening room, cafeteria, English library, and reading room are also equipped.
This apartment also solves meal-related issues. Doosan Construction plans to install a ‘Premium Food and Beverage Service Lounge’ at ‘Doosan We’ve the Zenith Yangsan’ in partnership with Ourhome, a comprehensive food company. The project operators, ‘Spring of Hometown’ and ‘Ourhome,’ have already signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) for joint operation of food and beverage facilities within the apartment residents’ welfare facilities.
Ourhome operates over 1,000 business sites and provides 1 million meals nationwide daily, making it one of the top food service companies in Korea.
Already, a residents-only buffet has been installed at ‘Gimhae Centum Doosan We’ve the Zenith (3,435 households),’ which is reported to be well received by residents. There, different types of premium home-cooked meals are offered daily. Especially, with clean hygiene management and healthy cooking, the meals are said to feel hardly different from home-cooked food.
The ‘Premium Food and Beverage Service Lounge’ at ‘Doosan We’ve the Zenith Yangsan’ will provide both breakfast and lunch. Additionally, snacks will be available in the afternoon. Moreover, to reduce the burden on working moms, handmade home-style side dishes will also be sold.
‘Doosan We’ve the Zenith Yangsan’ is a workplace-proximity apartment, so commuting times for residents are expected to be significantly shortened. In fact, the Seokgye 2 General Industrial Complex is located to the east of the complex. This industrial complex was completed in 2019, and all industrial land was sold out last year. Using National Road No. 35 near the complex, commuting to Sanmak Industrial Complex, Yangsan Industrial Complex, Yusan Industrial Complex, and Eogok Industrial Complex is convenient.
That’s not all. A residents-only shuttle bus will be operated within the complex, making external travel even easier for residents. Even without a private car, residents will be able to move outside more freely using public transportation.
Surrounding transportation conditions will also improve. The Yangsan Urban Railway Bukjeong Station, scheduled to open in 2024, will greatly enhance accessibility not only to Yangsan New City but also to Busan. Furthermore, the recently announced ‘4th National Railroad Network Construction Plan’ includes the ‘Southeast Circular Metropolitan Railroad’ connecting Changwon, Gimhae, Yangsan, and Ulsan, laying the foundation for the ‘Busan-Ulsan-Gyeongnam Mega City Circular Railroad.’ This line will be linked with the planned Busan~Yangsan~Ulsan metropolitan railroad and the Yangsan Urban Railway (Nopo Station~Bukjeong Station, scheduled to open in 2024).
In the future, generous gifts will be provided by lottery to successful applicants who sign contracts for this apartment. The grand prize is a Mercedes-Benz worth approximately 53 million KRW (1 unit). Additionally, 10 refrigerators worth about 2 million KRW each will be given as second prizes, and 100 food waste disposers worth about 1.3 million KRW each will be provided as third prizes in the giveaway event.
The model house will be set up in the Yangsan area and is scheduled to welcome visitors within this month.
