[Asia Economy Reporter Lim On-yu] As COVID-19 spreads across the country, new confirmed cases continue to emerge.
According to the Central Disease Control Headquarters (CDCH) on the 1st, since the first confirmed case (index patient) related to a transportation and printing company in Paju-si, Gyeonggi Province, on the 23rd of last month, a total of 11 people including family members and workers have tested positive. Among them, 8 are related to the transportation industry and 3 to the printing industry.
The scale of infections in existing cluster outbreaks is also steadily increasing.
In connection with a church in Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, 4 additional people tested positive, raising the total confirmed cases to 19.
Also, the cumulative confirmed cases in a restaurant cluster in Gwanak-gu, Seoul, reached 25, and 4 additional infections were confirmed related to cosmetics door-to-door sales in Gwanak-gu, increasing the total to 24.
The total number of confirmed cases related to a dance practice studio in Seoul has reached 33 so far. Among them, 21 are students including the index patient, 5 are instructors, 5 are acquaintances, and 2 are other cases.
The number of confirmed cases in an aluminum manufacturing case in Pyeongtaek-si, Gyeonggi Province, increased by 5 to a total of 16.
Scattered infections have also continued in non-metropolitan areas.
Since the first confirmed case at an insurance company in Cheonan-si, Chungnam Province, on the 29th of last month, a total of 8 employees and family members have tested positive and are undergoing treatment.
The number of confirmed cases related to a nursing home in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon, increased by 1 to 19, and 11 additional positive cases were confirmed at a senior welfare center in Buyeo-gun, raising the total to 30.
One more confirmed case related to manufacturing in Wanju-gun, Jeonbuk Province, was reported, bringing the total to 20 receiving treatment so far.
In the Gyeongbuk region, additional confirmed cases have emerged linked to saunas, tennis courts, and elementary schools.
In Seo-gu, Daegu, 3 more confirmed cases related to a sauna were reported, bringing the total to 43, and in the tennis court cases in Gimcheon and Gumi, Gyeongbuk Province, 4 additional positive cases were confirmed, raising the total to 27.
In Andong-si, Gyeongbuk Province, a total of 20 people related to a family acquaintance have tested positive.
At an elementary school in Gyeongsan-si, 10 students and family members have tested positive so far, and an epidemiological investigation is underway.
The spread in the Gyeongnam region, encompassing Busan, Ulsan, and Gyeongnam Province, shows no signs of slowing down.
In Gangseo-gu, Busan, the cumulative confirmed cases related to a workplace increased to 15, and in a bathhouse case in Gangseo-gu, 3 additional positive cases were confirmed during contact tracing, bringing the total to 16.
Confirmed cases related to family and acquaintances in Sasang-gu, Busan, continue to emerge, with 72 people testing positive so far.
In Ulsan, a total of 10 people were infected related to family and relatives in Jung-gu, and the number of confirmed cases related to entertainment establishments in Nam-gu increased to 15.
In Sacheon-si, Gyeongnam Province, additional confirmed cases emerged from entertainment establishments (13 people) and restaurant cases (72 people).
Meanwhile, the proportion of patients who do not know when or where they were infected was recorded at 27.8%.
From the 18th of last month to today, a total of 9,191 new confirmed cases were reported to the health authorities over the past two weeks, of which the infection route of 2,557 people has not yet been identified. This rate slightly decreased compared to the previous day (28.6%).
Cases presumed to have been infected after contact with confirmed patients numbered 4,152, accounting for 45.2% of the total.
