'100 Million KRW Donation Ceremony' Held to Support Treatment and Growth Education for Children with Pediatric Cancer

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Homeplus Social Contribution Foundation e-Paran Foundation announced on the 30th that it held a donation ceremony on the 29th at the Korea Leukemia Pediatric Cancer Association located in Mapo-gu. The ceremony was attended by Park In-joo, Chairman of Homeplus e-Paran Foundation, Lee Joong-myung, President of the Korea Leukemia Pediatric Cancer Association, Kim Dong-jun, CEO of B-Behind (Shoot for Love), and Yeon Tae-jun, Vice President and Head of External Cooperation and Compliance Management at Homeplus.

This donation was raised through a 'Donation Video Event' jointly conducted by the e-Paran Foundation and YouTube influencer 'Shoot for Love' in November last year to promote and increase awareness of support projects for children with leukemia and pediatric cancer. This social contribution campaign was designed to allow customers to participate in sharing simply by watching the video.

The event was conducted by accumulating 100 KRW per view on videos uploaded on Homeplus's official Facebook, YouTube, and other SNS channels, with a maximum donation of 100 million KRW upon reaching 1 million views. Within a month from November 30 last year, the video reached 1 million views, enabling the 100 million KRW donation.

The donation will be used for treatment costs for children with pediatric cancer, as well as for 'Healing School' programs aimed at supporting growth, social adaptation, and emotional recovery. Since 2012, Homeplus e-Paran Foundation has supported a total of 624 children with pediatric cancer in partnership with the Korea Leukemia Pediatric Cancer Association, with approximately 5.8 billion KRW in funds over nine years.

The company stated that the soccer video was produced in an engaging 'trick shot' style. The video, filmed at Homeplus stores with YouTube creator 'Shoot for Love' who leads the donation activities, featured former national tennis player Lee Hyung-taek and former national taekwondo athlete Lee Dae-hoon, attracting public attention.

Meanwhile, Homeplus said it has been practicing ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management since its acquisition by MBK Partners.

Cho Hyun-gu, Secretary General of Homeplus e-Paran Foundation, said, "Homeplus applies ESG management across all departments," adding, "Especially in the social value (Care for Future) sector, we plan various activities that customers can participate in together to grow Homeplus sustainably."
