[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Bong-ju] A father who has been unable to find his missing son for several days has appealed for help in locating him.

On the 28th, a post seeking the son was uploaded on a personal blog.

The writer, who identified himself as the father of A, a man in his 20s attending a university in Seoul, wrote, "He is my son whom I would not mind putting in my eye, but I wonder if I will be able to see him. Today marks the third day already," adding, "The detectives are making efforts, but there are no CCTV cameras, and even if there are, the footage is too blurry to tell if it is my son. If anyone who visited the Han River has seen him, could you please let us know?"

A’s father said, "I searched through all the bushes on the bike path and went to Hannam Bridge and back, but found nothing except homeless people," and lamented, "My son is missing, but I don’t know if the last place he was was the riverside in Gangbuk or if he never left Banpo Hangang Park."

He wrote, "My 22-year-old son, full of hope, shouldn’t have ended up like this. I will hold on until the results come out, but I don’t know if this is a life worth living for me either."

The police announced on the 29th (today) that A was last seen near the water taxi dock at Banpo Hangang Park between 3 and 5 a.m. on the 25th and has been missing since, with search efforts underway.

Investigations revealed that A had been drinking with a friend at Banpo Hangang Park from around 11 p.m. on the 24th until about 2 a.m. the next day and then fell asleep. The friend who was with him woke up around 4:30 a.m., looked for A, but not finding him, assumed he had gone home first and left.

There was no CCTV footage covering the scene at the time, making it difficult to determine A’s exact whereabouts. The police have been conducting searches using drones, helicopters, and search dogs, and continue patrolling the Han River. The police stated, "We are keeping all possibilities open, including accidental falls and land movements, as we continue the search."
