Dongguk University Celebrates 115th Anniversary, Launches Founding Committee

[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] Dongguk University, celebrating its 115th anniversary, has launched the Foundation Committee to lay the groundwork for its 'Second Founding.'

The Dongguk University Foundation held the inauguration ceremony of the Foundation Committee and a joint meeting of the Supreme and Standing Committee members on the 5th floor of the Dongguk University Main Building on the 29th.

The Dongguk University Foundation Committee is composed of ▲Certification ▲Advisors ▲Supreme Committee ▲Standing Committee ▲Advisory Group ▲Subcommittees (Education, Medical, Regional, Global) ▲Executive Committee ▲Secretariat. The Secretariat is located on the 5th floor of the Main Building at Dongguk University's Seoul Campus.

Venerable Jaseung, who serves as the chairman, said in his greeting, "The Foundation Committee must start from the self-reflection and new resolution of the members of the Buddhist-affiliated school. We must take the lead in revitalizing Korean Buddhism with the belief that the revival of Buddhism is the development of Dongguk, and the development of Dongguk is the revival of Buddhism."

The Foundation Committee will perform roles such as ▲establishing strategies and plans to realize the founding philosophy ▲installing and organizing programs or facilities to realize the founding philosophy ▲operating and supporting activities to realize the founding philosophy.

Dongguk University was established in 1906 by pioneering monks for the sake of education and national service and the cultivation of talented individuals.
