Differentiated Service Plan... Service Expected to Open Within the Second Half of the Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] E-commerce company TMON is entering the delivery service market. Following Coupang and WEMAKEPRICE, which launched delivery apps to enter this market, TMON is also preparing delivery services as one of its new businesses. As a latecomer to the market, TMON is devising strategies to provide differentiated services.
According to industry sources on the 29th, TMON is currently conducting open recruitment for personnel related to delivery services. Regarding this, TMON explained, "We continue to pursue new businesses and attempts to provide value, experience, and various services to customers using TMON," adding, "We are preparing according to plan."
TMON's delivery service is expected to launch in the second half of the year. It is reported that TMON selected delivery services, which have seen a surge in users after the COVID-19 pandemic, as one of several new businesses to strengthen its platform functions.
Among e-commerce companies, Coupang and WEMAKEPRICE entered the delivery market earlier. Coupang started the 'Coupang Eats' service in 2019 and rapidly grew through a ‘single-order delivery’ system, where one delivery person is assigned to one order. WEMAKEPRICE also launched the 'WEMAKEPRICE O' service in 2019 and spun it off as an independent corporation in November last year. They are also preparing a single-order delivery system similar to Coupang Eats.
TMON, which is pursuing a domestic IPO this year, is expected to diversify the services it provides as a platform through delivery services and improve its performance, given the large demand in the market.
