[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The street assault incident involving rapper Noel (Jang Yong-jun) in Seomyeon, Busan has been closed. The prosecution viewed it as a simple assault, and it is known that the victim did not wish to press charges.

The prosecution concluded the case against Jang Yong-jun, son of People Power Party lawmaker Jang Je-won, who was referred by the police on charges of assaulting a passerby, with a "no prosecution" decision.

The Busan District Prosecutors' Office announced on the 29th that it had decided on February 21 to dismiss the case against Jang. This decision came just a week after the Busanjin Police Station in Busan referred Jang and one acquaintance to the prosecution on assault charges on the 14th.

During the police investigation, Jang and one companion claimed mutual assault and did not reach an agreement with the victim, but the police recognized Jang's unilateral assault and forwarded the case to the prosecution.

After the case moved to the prosecution's investigation, it appears that Jang reached a settlement with the victim.

Since assault is a "non-prosecution offense upon victim's withdrawal," the case is closed if the victim does not wish to press charges.

A representative of the Busan District Prosecutors' Office said, "We cannot disclose the reasons for the no prosecution decision," adding, "Generally, assault cases are closed if the victim and the offender reach a settlement."

On the early morning of February 26, Jang was investigated by the police on charges of spitting on the face and assaulting with both hands a passerby after a dispute on a road in Seomyeon, Busanjin-gu, Busan.
