Visa Conducts 'MyData' Consumer Awareness Survey Targeting 1,000 People
[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] A survey revealed that 80% of consumers with experience in financial product transactions do not know well what Personal Credit Information Management Services (MyData) are. However, despite the low awareness level, the intention to use the service in the future is high, indicating that industry efforts from the consumer's perspective are necessary.
On the 29th, global payment company Visa announced the results of an online "MyData Consumer Awareness Survey" with this content. The survey was conducted from the 19th to the 22nd of last month, targeting 1,000 adult men and women aged 20 to 59 who use smartphones and have experience in financial product transactions, residing in the metropolitan area and five major metropolitan cities.
According to the survey results, 55.5% of respondents said they had never heard of the MyData business. 25% answered that they had "heard of it but do not know well." Those who answered "have heard of it and roughly/slightly know" and "have heard of it and know well" accounted for 14.5% and 5%, respectively.
On the other hand, when asked about their interest after providing information about MyData, 64.1% responded with "very interested" or "somewhat interested." In particular, among the "MyData aware" group, 10% said "very interested," and 63.2% said "somewhat interested," showing a high interest level of 73.1% in total.
The reasons for interest (multiple responses allowed) were "because I can gather my information from various places in one place" (69%), "because it seems helpful for expenditure and asset management" (56.7%), "because I can gather point and benefit information in one place" (42.1%), "because online and application (app) use will become easier" (33.1%), "because I will have sovereignty over my data" (24.9%), and "because I can receive recommendations for customized products and services" (24.1%), in that order.
The intention to use MyData-related services in the future was 64.6% for "very willing to use" and "willing to use," which was higher than the awareness level.
Lee Ju-yeon, Vice President of Visa Korea, said, "This survey was conducted to understand general consumer awareness and interest before the implementation of MyData," adding, "It is meaningful in that it presented industry-level implications targeting consumers beyond activities centered on corporate participants."
