May 6-7 Registration... This Year’s Hybrid Distributed Format Event
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Seon-gang] Dong-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City (Mayor Im Taek) announced on the 29th that it will publicly recruit a capable general director for the successful hosting of the ‘18th Nostalgic Chungjang Festival.’
Now in its 18th year, the Nostalgic Chungjang Festival is planning a safe and exemplary new style of festival that visitors can enjoy with peace of mind, including exploring new festival hosting methods in response to COVID-19 and developing festival content related to ‘healing.’
This year’s festival also aims to provide a venue for harmony through relieving fatigue caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic, reflecting the will to overcome the crisis, and encouraging active participation from citizens and artists.
Dong-gu plans to hold the Chungjang Festival, which will take place over five days from October 13 to 17, in a ‘hybrid dispersed’ format considering COVID-19 quarantine measures, with expert advice from the planning stage.
The main venue centered around the National Asia Culture Center and Geumnam-ro area, along with 5 to 6 auxiliary venues, will be set up to disperse visitors, and the festival will be held in a more distinctive and new way by organically combining online and offline hybrid programs.
The general director of the Chungjang Festival will be responsible for overall planning and directing of the festival in response to COVID-19, suggesting directions for festival development, overseeing hybrid program operations, organizing dispersed festival spaces, and preparing external publicity plans to raise festival awareness.
Applicants must be at least 20 years old as of the announcement date, have experience in planning and directing nationwide festivals or events, and possess a comprehensive understanding of the Chungjang Festival and local conditions. Anyone meeting these criteria can apply.
To apply, download the relevant application form from the Dong-gu Office website and submit it in person or by registered mail to the Dong-gu Office Culture and Tourism Division on October 6 or 7.
Mayor Im Taek of Dong-gu said, “We will appoint a capable general director who can lead the Chungjang Festival, a Korean cultural tourism festival, to be successful and safe amid the COVID-19 situation through overall planning and directing.” He added, “We look forward to the interest and participation of experienced individuals with passion and fresh ideas.”
