[Asia Economy Reporter Byunghee Park] U.S. President Joe Biden is set to hold his first meeting next month with leaders from both the Democratic and Republican parties, Bloomberg News reported on the 29th (local time).
The White House announced that President Biden will meet with the leadership of both parties for the first time since taking office on May 12.
The White House explained that while President Biden had previously invited Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the White House, this is the first time he has invited House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell. It added that President Biden will discuss policy areas where common ground can be found with the lawmakers.
The White House stated that more than 130 U.S. lawmakers, including members of President Biden’s cabinet, have been invited to the White House so far.
