Samjin Food, Launches 9-Month Frozen 'Samjin Eomuk Bunsik Tteokbokki'
Quick and Easy! Catering to the Trend of Enjoying Bunsik Sets at Home
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Samjin Eomuk, Busan’s representative local fish cake brand, has launched a convenient frozen tteokbokki reflecting the ready meal trend.
Samjin Food (CEO Hwang Chang-hwan) announced on the 29th that Samjin Eomuk is challenging the domestic market by launching the frozen ready meal “Samjin Eomuk Bunsik Tteokbokki.”
According to the “Food Consumption Change Survey Before and After COVID-19” conducted by the Korea Agro-Fisheries & Food Trade Corporation (aT) in October last year, 74.2% of respondents reported an “increase in home-cooked meal consumption.”
This supports the increase in consumption of easy-to-cook ready meals and meal kits.
The ready meal products released by Samjin Eomuk are not only tteokbokki but also include a bunsik set consisting of sundae (Korean blood sausage), gim-mari eomuk (seaweed roll fish cake), and fish cake broth, allowing families to conveniently enjoy bunsik at home.
The company explained that this is a customized product suited for the COVID-19 era, where going out and dining at restaurants are restricted.
This product allows you to enjoy popular bunsik menu items?tteokbokki, sundae, gim-mari eomuk, and fish cake broth?all in one.
Also, unlike existing refrigerated ready meals that have a short shelf life and must be consumed within 5 days, this product is frozen and can be stored for up to 9 months.
The cooking time is short, about 10 minutes, and the cooking method is simple. It is available on the official Samjin Eomuk online mall and other online shopping malls.
Kim Tae-sung, Head of Distribution at Samjin Food, said, “We launched this product to provide a meal solution that is more convenient and easy.”
Meanwhile, “Our Family’s Meticulous Fish Cake,” a low-sodium fish cake released by Samjin Eomuk in October last year, has recorded cumulative sales of 1 million packs since its launch. Recently, it was selected as the No. 1 brand in the seafood processed food category in the 23rd Korea Brand Power Index (K-BPI) survey.
