Gimcheon-si Provides 500,000 Won in Living Expenses to Low-Income Households ... Support for COVID-19 Marginalized Groups

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Gimcheon City, Gyeongbuk Province (Mayor Kim Chung-seop) announced on the 29th that it will provide a temporary living support fund of 500,000 KRW each to low-income households that have not benefited from existing welfare systems or COVID-19 damage support projects.

The support targets households residing in Gimcheon City as of March 1st, whose income from January to May this year has decreased compared to their income in 2019 or 2020, and whose property is below 350 million KRW and 75% or less of the median income. Applications are possible regardless of financial assets and debts.

This temporary COVID-19 disaster living support cannot be paid redundantly. Accordingly, households receiving basic livelihood security living benefits, emergency welfare living support, or the 4th disaster relief funds such as emergency employment stabilization support or Buttimgok Plus funds are excluded.

Households that have received a 300,000 KRW small-scale farm management support voucher can apply for the temporary living support fund, but if selected as recipients, 200,000 KRW excluding the voucher support amount will be paid.

Eligible recipients of the temporary living support fund can apply online or visit the Eup/Myeon/Dong administrative welfare centers. Online applications will be accepted from May 10 to 28 via the Bokjiro website. Visit applications will be accepted at Eup, Myeon, and Dong administrative welfare centers from the 17th to June 4.

The support fund will be paid at the end of June after verifying income, property, and other overlapping projects only for applicants. Regardless of the number of household members, 500,000 KRW will be paid in cash via bank transfer.

Mayor Kim Chung-seop said, "I hope all citizens struggling due to the prolonged COVID-19 will definitely apply for this temporary living support fund to help their livelihood."
