Operation of Situation Room, Focused Management of Vehicle Emission Reduction and Volatile Organic Compound Emission Companies
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Saeyan] Changwon City in Gyeongnam operates an ozone alert system control room from April to October, coinciding with the period when ozone concentration in the atmosphere rises.
During the operation period, if an ozone advisory is issued, the city plans to quickly disseminate the alert status and citizen action guidelines through text messages and other means.
Civilians are advised to refrain from using private cars, participate in public transportation, limit outdoor activities, and avoid strenuous exercise when an ozone alert is issued.
In particular, since ozone is generated by photochemical reactions of nitrogen oxides and volatile organic compounds under ultraviolet light, the city will strengthen pollutant measurement and monitoring activities at 65 business sites that emit large amounts of organic solvents.
Along with this, the city is promoting emission reduction projects such as early scrapping of old diesel vehicles.
To respond promptly to air pollution, two additional fine dust and ozone signal lights will be installed (increasing from the existing 15 locations to 17 locations).
Civilians who wish to receive mobile text message services during air pollution alerts such as fine dust and ozone can apply by accessing the Changwon City website.
