‘30th Anniversary of Local Autonomy Special Curriculum Now, Again, Autonomy and Decentralization’ Online Course... May 24 - July 2, Total 18 Online Lectures
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Geumcheon-gu (Mayor Yu Seong-hoon) will run the Geumcheon Campus of the Autonomy and Decentralization University online from May 24 to July 2, offering a special course titled "30th Anniversary of Local Autonomy: Now, Again, Autonomy and Decentralization" to cultivate autonomy and decentralization leaders who practice self-governance in daily life.
This education program will reflect on the 30 years since the revival of local autonomy in 2021, examining how our society has changed and what has been different. Through this special 30th anniversary course, participants will review the history of Korean local autonomy and explore future challenges together.
The lectures consist of ▲History of local autonomy in the East and West ▲Local autonomy systems and paradigm shifts ▲Reconsidering local governments and resident autonomy ▲Significance and limitations of the full revision of the Local Autonomy Act scheduled for implementation in 2022. A total of 18 sessions will be held, with three lectures per week, each lasting about 20 minutes.
The lectures are free and open to anyone regardless of residence. Residents wishing to enroll can apply in person at the Geumcheon-gu Office Planning and Budget Division or the local community service centers from April 26 to May 14, or submit an application form via email (gccs@geumcheon.go.kr).
Residents who complete the course will receive a certificate of completion through online midterm and final exams.
Mayor Yu Seong-hoon of Geumcheon-gu said, "Through various lectures by experts on local autonomy and policy stakeholders, I hope that the core of autonomy and decentralization, the 'residents,' will be nurtured as autonomy leaders in Geumcheon-gu."
