GS25, Q1 Catalog Product Sales Up 242%... Operating 155 Products in May

GS25, Q1 Catalog Product Sales Up 242%... Operating 155 Products in May

45.6 Million KRW German Pent Luxury Caravan and Pet Electronics
Popular Items Like LG Room&TV Launched at Reasonable Prices in Q1 This Year

[Asia Economy Reporter Yuri Kim] Convenience stores are selling unique products such as camping caravans, luxury bags, and electronic products for pets.

GS25, a convenience store operated by GS Retail, announced on the 29th that it will showcase a total of 155 products including camping caravans and pet supplies through The Pop mobile application and E-catalog throughout May, in celebration of Family Month.

Among the unique products are luxury caravans from the German company Pent priced at 45.6 million KRW and seven types of tents. Consumers purchasing caravans at GS25 will receive special options worth about 300,000 KRW, including a door step and a fire extinguisher. The seven camping tents range from 2 to 8-person models, priced between 169,000 KRW and 1.19 million KRW.

There are also 12 products prepared for pets. Representative items include Cuckoo Electronics’ Pet Air Shower & Dry Room (a dryer box for pets) priced at 662,000 KRW, and Samsung Electronics’ Bespoke Cube Air Pet Care (an air purifier with deodorizing function) priced at 861,000 KRW.

A luxury exhibition themed “Luxury Gifts for Yourself” will also be held, featuring items such as Bottega Veneta’s Padded Cassette Bag (3.248 million KRW). The event includes 25 overseas luxury items and about 40 competitively priced electronic products.

Consumers can select desired products via their smartphones and order and pay at the nearest GS25 store, then receive them through courier or direct delivery from the supplier.

GS25’s E-catalog product sales in Q1 this year increased by 242% compared to the same period last year. GS25 interprets this surge as a growing trend of consumers wanting to reasonably purchase high-priced or bulky products that are difficult to display in stores but competitively priced compared to online malls.

In Q1, products that are hard to find in the market, such as the Nintendo Switch Neon Animal Crossing package (429,500 KRW), LG Room&TV (295,000 KRW), and PING G425 Max golf driver (690,000 KRW), were sourced and offered in limited quantities through the E-catalog at competitive prices, selling out within 2 to 3 days.

Cha Jung-mo, MD of GS Retail’s Life Living Team, said, “GS25’s E-catalog operates without inventory by carefully selecting popular and competitively priced bulky or high-priced products. Recently, sales have greatly increased as thrifty customers use benefits such as carrier partnership discounts and GS&POINT accumulation.”
