Selected 10 University Student Mentors for 'Jamong Support Group' Assisting Youth Club Activities and Education Festival Operations... Mentor Placement Based on Club Demand Survey, Promoting Active Operation Through Sharing Mentor Experiences
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Yeongdeungpo-gu (District Mayor Chae Hyun-il) has selected 10 university student mentors who will be fully responsible for managing the operation of clubs under the Jamong Project, which supports the "free dreams (夢)" of youth and various activities, and they are now beginning full-scale activities.
The "Jamong (夢) Project" is a youth self-governance support program that helps healthy growth through diverse experiences by allowing youth to freely plan clubs they want to participate in and actively engage in activities on their own initiative.
The district plans to select university student mentors called the "Jamong Support Group" to guide the activities of Jamong Project clubs and support the operation and planning of youth festivals through regular meetings, assigning and operating them according to the needs of each club.
Since the recruitment of the Jamong Support Group began in early March, after the first document screening and the second non-face-to-face interview screening, 10 university student mentors with the capability to guide youth club activities were finally selected.
On the 23rd, an orientation was held for the selected university student mentors to introduce the Yeongdeungpo Innovation Education District Youth Autonomy Division project, the activity plans of the 2021 Jamong Project selected clubs, the roles of the Jamong Support Group, and future plans.
The support group will continue activities until the end of this year, mainly performing roles such as ▲ assisting in planning and operating activities of clubs affiliated with the Jamong Project ▲ managing club budget execution ▲ assisting in planning and operating youth festivals ▲ providing opinions at regular meetings and reporting on interim activities.
Additionally, education and workshops to strengthen the planning capabilities of the mentors will be conducted regularly.
The activities of the support group are carried out voluntarily by the mentors, and VMS volunteer hours are recognized through linkage with the Yeongdeungpo-gu Volunteer Center.
In the future, the Jamong Support Group plans to provide meticulous management of the entire process including planning, operation, and inspection of affiliated clubs' activities, support the operation of Yeongdeungpo-gu's representative youth festivals such as Popo Festa and Jamong Festa, and continuously support the establishment of youth autonomy and creative activities.
Chae Hyun-il, Mayor of Yeongdeungpo-gu, said, "The activities of the Jamong Support Group are meaningful in that university student mentors share and communicate their experiences, thoughts, and ideas from their youth with participating youth, growing together through cooperation," and added, "We will continue to provide unwavering support so that our youth can grow up upright and healthy."
