Talk Show and Live Performance with Yu Jaeha Competition Artists... Story Introduction and Small Concert for Selected Audience through Story Submission... Official YouTube Channel of Open Changdong Project Group to Release Live Listening Session Video
[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Dobong-gu (Mayor Lee Dong-jin) plans to present a healing project music listening session at the OPCD VINYL LP music listening room under the Changdong Station overpass to soothe the emotions of local residents exhausted by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic.
The event is called 'OPCD (Open Changdong) SIDE C Yoo Jae-ha Music Listening Session.'
This listening session is part of a youth musician support project aimed at creating a 'Music City Changdong' and will be organized as an opportunity to popularize LP culture together with artists who are interested in or have experience releasing LP records.
The program name 'SIDE C' carries a special meaning beyond the usual front (A-side) and back (B-side) of an LP record, referring to a regular album or special performances (the third track, bonus track) that are not commonly accessible.
The OPCD (Open Changdong) SIDE C Yoo Jae-ha Music Listening Session will feature artists who have participated in the Yoo Jae-ha Competition, which honors the late Yoo Jae-ha, a representative figure in Korean popular music. The event will include a talk show and listening session and will be made available to local residents through the official Open Changdong YouTube channel.
During the listening session, six young artists who will share stories and music themed around Yoo Jae-ha are ▲Jang Yu-kyung ▲Baek Seung-hwan ▲Gong Se-young ▲Kohyo ▲Kim Je-ho ▲Kim Jeong-eun. Each of them is a skilled musician who has won awards ranging from grand prize to encouragement prize at the Yoo Jae-ha Music Competition.
The listening session will begin on May 1 with a talk show reflecting on Yoo Jae-ha, featuring the cast gathering to listen to Yoo Jae-ha LPs, share behind-the-scenes stories of the Yoo Jae-ha Competition, and participate in quizzes and other subtopics. On May 12 and 15, a total of four listening sessions will be held for selected audiences who apply through OPCD’s Instagram and have memories related to Yoo Jae-ha.
After all programs, vivid videos from the event will be released on the Open Changdong YouTube channel.
Mayor Lee Dong-jin of Dobong-gu said, “I hope this program becomes a time of mutual comfort for those who cannot visit performance venues due to the COVID-19 spread and for artists who quietly continue their music in their own places. Just as Yoo Jae-ha’s influence and aura on our popular music are great, we will prepare diverse and high-quality content that can provide comfort and positive influence to our local residents and young musicians.”
