Transferred out of fear... Counseling teacher arrives with the offending student

Accompanied the perpetrator student to request a meeting, was rejected

According to TBC broadcast on the 27th, last year, a female middle school student A in the Gyeongbuk region was sexually assaulted by male peers.

Three male perpetrators recorded the sexual assault, and the video spread widely.

Severely distressed mentally, A eventually fled and enrolled in a high school in a different area far from home earlier this year.

Then, on the 30th of last month, perpetrator C and his parents visited A’s high school.

C was awaiting trial on charges of quasi-rape by intimidation and production and distribution of obscene materials, and a restraining order had been issued by the education office.

What was even more shocking was that the person who came to the school with them was an education office counselor who was well aware of the fundamental principle of separating the perpetrator and the victim.

Regarding this, the victim’s mother said, "Even now, when I think about that day, my heart races and I feel great fear because of it," adding, "They acknowledge visiting us but do not apologize for it, and I worry they might come again."

The counselor stated that they had a private counseling relationship with the perpetrator and visited because they were distressed.

The counselor explained, "I told (the perpetrator’s) mother that if she did not agree, they absolutely could not meet, and since (the victim’s) homeroom teacher said no, I thought it was right not to meet."

Daegu Office of Education reportedly issued a warning and ordered retraining related to school violence for the counselor who acted negligently.
