Gmarket 'Touch' Campaign Heals Anxiety and Trauma Across Society
This Year’s Theme is 'Family'...All Raised Funds Support Psychological Care for Students and Families Affected by School Violence
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Yuri] Gmarket announced on the 27th that it will run the donation campaign 'Touch' until the 17th of next month to support psychological care for students and families affected by school violence.
The year-round donation crowdfunding project Gmarket 'Touch' is a campaign aimed at healing widespread loneliness, anxiety, and trauma in society, providing psychological care to various social groups reflecting diverse social issues. Since its launch in March last year with firefighters as the first beneficiaries, it has provided support worth a total of 160 million KRW to abused children, COVID-19 medical staff and care workers, families of children and adolescents with disabilities, and families affected by traffic accidents.
This year’s Touch campaign, conducted with the main theme of 'Family,' has selected students and their families affected by school violence as its second support target. According to a Ministry of Education survey last year, about 27,000 students experienced school violence, many suffering from depression and anxiety disorders or attempting extreme measures, making psychological support urgently needed.
Any Gmarket member can easily participate in the Touch campaign. When a Gmarket member clicks the funding button within the Touch campaign, Gmarket donates from its customer-participation social contribution fund called 'Sponsorship Shopping' for each click. The fundraising goal is 30 million KRW. A relay comment board has also been set up to cheer on students and families exhausted by school violence trauma.
All funds raised through customer participation will be used for psychological care support projects for 'students and families affected by school violence' by the Green Umbrella Children’s Foundation. The foundation continues to work on school violence prevention education and strives to eradicate school violence.
Kim Juseong, Marketing Team Leader at eBay Korea Gmarket, said, "We launched this campaign to help provide some psychological stability and recovery for victims of school violence and their families who have long suffered from trauma," adding, "We will continue the Touch campaign to support various families across society facing psychological difficulties."
