[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunseok Yoo] Enterprise user interface (UI) and user experience (UX) platform specialist company ToBeSoft announced on the 26th that it has established a local subsidiary in China, ‘ToBeSoft Science and Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter ToBeSoft China),’ and held an opening ceremony at the corporate headquarters. Following Japan, this is the second local subsidiary established in China, laying a foothold for expanding into the Greater China market.
ToBeSoft China is located in Haxi District, Tianjin City, the center of the Northeast China economy and home to many domestic companies. The inaugural head of the subsidiary is Lee Daun, ToBeSoft’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO), who has been leading the establishment of the local subsidiary since September last year. He will oversee the overall strategy for penetrating the Chinese market.
Lee Daun, head of the subsidiary, stated, “Before establishing the subsidiary, it was urgent to secure research and development personnel and core technologies in fields such as artificial intelligence (AI) and big data, which are highly regarded for their technological excellence in China, to maximize the technological competitiveness of the Nexacro platform.” He emphasized, “To this end, we joined the ‘Electronic Information and Big Data Talent Innovation Startup Alliance’ as the only foreign company and have been active as one of the eight leading member companies.”
Additionally, ToBeSoft participated as the sole UI/UX specialist company in a job fair hosted by the Tianjin Human Resources Development Promotion Center, successfully securing capable local technical talent. Furthermore, by actively promoting the soon-to-be-released Chinese language support for the Nexacro platform to Chinese government agencies and local companies, they have completed all preparations for a localization strategy.
Lee Daun explained, “Although China is making large-scale investments and research and development to strengthen and secure the latest ICT competitiveness at the national level, it is true that awareness and technological capabilities in the UI/UX field are still insufficient.”
Nevertheless, the outlook for the Chinese UI/UX market is positive. Considering the scale trends of the global packaged software industry by sector, 93% of the fields are accessible to the Nexacro platform. Based on IDC data and internal analysis, the market size accessible to the Nexacro platform in China is expected to exceed $3.9 billion (approximately 4 trillion KRW).
He added, “As the successful implementation cases achieved through ToBeSoft’s market share and technological capabilities in South Korea become widely known in China, we are receiving various inquiries. If we make good use of this opportunity, we expect to achieve the first goal of ToBeSoft China?‘3% local market share within three years’?ahead of schedule.”
In fact, ToBeSoft China has already signed a Nexacro platform introduction contract worth $600,000 (approximately 600 million KRW) with Zhonghai Data. They are also working on cooperation with local companies, such as signing a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for strategic partnership with Inspur, China’s largest server manufacturer, and proposing the introduction of the Nexacro platform.
Co-growth with domestic companies entering or planning to enter China is also being pursued. In particular, beyond business aspects such as proposing Nexacro platform adoption and consulting or reviewing connected projects for excellent companies in the finance and manufacturing sectors, ToBeSoft plans to act as a ‘bridge’ between the Chinese government and domestic companies to create successful cases based on multilateral cooperation.
Lee Kyungchan, CEO of ToBeSoft, said, “ToBeSoft China was established with great effort until just before its founding to demonstrate ToBeSoft’s determination to continue the success story in the UI/UX markets of South Korea and Japan.” He added, “With the company’s full capabilities focused on preparing various localization strategies for the Chinese market, we expect to achieve remarkable results early on.”
