[Asia Economy Reporter Jong-il Park] On the 23rd at 2 p.m., Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, attended the opening ceremony of the Youth Safety Net Integrated Support Center.

The Youth Safety Net Integrated Support Center (17 Sanggye-ro 23-gil), established for the first time nationwide to provide integrated support for at-risk youth, was created by utilizing the site of the existing Sanggye 2-dong Police Center. It covers an area of 120.3㎡ and is equipped with two counseling rooms, a program room, a youth rest area, and offices.

The center plans to build an integrated service model rather than individual approaches by institutions through a collaborative model involving the district office, police, education office, and counseling center.

A total of 10 staff members, including the district office’s integrated case managers, school police officers from the police station, youth officers from the education office, and case management team from the counseling welfare center, gather in one space aiming to provide prompt support tailored to various cases of at-risk youth.

The opening ceremony was held on a small scale with minimal attendees, including Mayor Oh Seung-rok and Choi Yoon-nam, Chairperson of the Nowon District Council, due to COVID-19.

Mayor Oh Seung-rok said, “Through the Youth Safety Net Integrated Support Center, we expect to provide more thorough support for at-risk youth in the future,” adding, “We will do our best to create an environment where all youth can grow up healthily.”
