[Asia Economy Reporter Seongpil Cho] Yoon Nam-seok, Chief Justice of the Constitutional Court, stated on the 23rd, "Our society demands that the content and application of the law embody fairness and substantive equality for socially vulnerable groups." In a congratulatory video message commemorating Law Day, Chief Justice Yoon said, "The Constitutional Court will examine whether the law excessively restricts the fundamental rights of the people and faithfully implement substantive rule of law."

He emphasized, "There have been times in the past when the rule of law was emphasized as a means to restrict freedom," adding, "In contrast, in today's constitutional democratic state, the rule of law has an active and substantive meaning." He continued, "I hope this Law Day will be an opportunity for everyone to reflect on the true meaning of law and the rule of law as a constitutional framework for all members of our community to enjoy dignity and happiness."
