[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Gwan-woo] Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced on the 23rd that it was selected as an excellent institution in the ‘2020 Public Data Provision Operation Status Evaluation’ hosted by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 20th.
The ‘Public Data Provision Operation Status Evaluation’ is conducted annually targeting central administrative agencies, metropolitan and basic local governments, and public institutions in accordance with Article 9 of the ‘Act on the Provision and Activation of Public Data.’
It evaluates 535 public institutions nationwide in five areas (16 indicators): public data management system, opening, utilization, quality, and others (additional points), and classifies them into three grades: excellent, average, and poor.
In this evaluation, Gwangsan-gu received a first-grade rating in indicators such as ‘public data quality management level’ and ‘opening and discovery of new data,’ achieving higher scores compared to the national average of basic local governments, and was the only district among the five districts of Gwangju Metropolitan City to be selected as an excellent institution.
In particular, through data analysis projects such as the ‘Gwangsan-gu Commercial District Sales Status Survey’ related to the spread of COVID-19, it enhanced policy efficiency, created jobs linked to the youth internship project, and carried out the Gwangsan-type Public Data Dam construction project, receiving favorable evaluations as an excellent case of administrative service improvement using public data.
Gwangsan-gu plans to continuously improve the level of public data provision by opening high-quality public data such as discovering new data in connection with the ‘2021 Public Data New Deal Youth Internship Project’ to citizens.
