Establishing Unique Brands such as Korean Pork Fermented Ham Manufacturing Method and DdalmiJu
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Soon-kyung] The Sancheong-gun Agricultural Technology Center in Gyeongnam is accelerating the development of local agriculture and livestock industries by utilizing patents and trademark registrations that have been steadily filed and registered over the past decade.
On the 23rd, the Sancheong-gun Agricultural Technology Center announced that it will actively utilize intellectual property such as patents, geographical indication collective marks, design registrations, and trademark registrations to respond proactively to the rapidly changing modern agriculture and livestock industry.
According to the county, as of April, the patents held by the Sancheong-gun Agricultural Technology Center and local agricultural and livestock product production companies include six cases such as the "Method for Manufacturing Fermented Korean Pork Ham" and the "Strawberry Bread Manufacturing Device Capable of Separating Molds and Uniform Production." There are 40 trademark registrations in total, including "Processed Lunchbox Bibimbap (Sancheong Chwiban)," "Strawberry Bread (Ddalmiju)," and "Sancheong Mountain Pork," which have been filed and registered.
In addition, the Sancheong Organic Korean Beef Farming Association has completed the registration of the geographical indication collective mark for "Sancheong Hanwoo," and the Sancheong-gun Agricultural Technology Center has registered packaging labels to enhance the brand value of Sancheong-gun agricultural and livestock products.
The county agricultural technology center was able to secure such intellectual property rights as a result of continuous collaboration and communication with local farmers. In particular, among the patents, the method for manufacturing fermented Korean pork ham (including Hovenia dulcis, Achyranthes japonica, and peppermint) and the method for producing sulfur-fed antibiotic-free safe pork are aimed at increasing the added value of pork, a major livestock product of Sancheong-gun.
Also, the strong soybean paste and its manufacturing method, and the strawberry bread manufacturing device capable of separating molds and uniform production were patented after the county and farmers conducted field surveys and various research experiments to collect standardized data, which was then modeled, making it even more meaningful.
Furthermore, they are building distinctive brands by filing a total of 40 trademark registrations for products such as Sancheong Chwiban using Sancheong wild vegetables, Ddalmiju (strawberry bread) using Sancheong strawberries, and Sancheong Mountain Pork using Sancheong black pork.
Lee Jae-geun, the mayor of Sancheong-gun, said, "Intellectual property such as patents is a great driving force for the development of our Sancheong-gun agriculture and livestock industry," and added, "The county will take responsibility for Sancheong food and do its best to produce and supply it safely."
He emphasized, "In the future, we will continue to promote research and development using our county's agricultural and livestock products to play a leading role in the Fourth Industrial Revolution and the development of agriculture and livestock industries, creating an agriculture and livestock industry that only Sancheong can achieve."
