'Speedy and Simplified'.. Gyeonggi-do Implements Industrial Complex Planning System Improvements

From April, Minor Changes Will Omit Preliminary Review and Written Deliberation

'Speedy and Simplified'.. Gyeonggi-do Implements Industrial Complex Planning System Improvements

[Asia Economy Reporter La Young-cheol] Gyeonggi Province will introduce and promote a system improvement plan that allows minor changes to local industrial complex plans to be processed quickly through 'written review' without prior review procedures.

According to the province on the 23rd, under the "Special Act for Simplifying Industrial Complex Permit Procedures," minor changes that do not significantly affect the overall industrial complex plan will be processed within one week to simplify the procedure.

The applicable cases exclude ▲ changes of 10% or more of the total area ▲ changes in major attraction industries ▲ changes of 10% or more in the total area by facility in land use plans ▲ changes of 50% or more in the scale of waste treatment facilities, etc.

Until now, all initial approvals, major changes, and minor changes to industrial complex plans had to undergo face-to-face reviews. Due to this, despite the intent of the special act to shorten procedures, rapid processing was difficult because of schedule coordination and prior review procedures.

A provincial official stated, "This system improvement is a measure to uphold the intent of the special act to simplify permit procedures and promote the smooth progress of industrial complex development projects," adding, "We plan to continuously discover ways to improve industrial complex permit procedures for swift processing in the future."
