[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Daehyun] The court has ruled to cancel the Ministry of Justice's extension of the travel ban on Kaher Kazem, President of Korea GM (GM) (51), who is on trial for illegally dispatching workers (violation of the Act on the Protection of Dispatched Workers, etc.).
On the 23rd, Shin Myunghui, Chief Judge of the Administrative Division 2 at the Seoul Administrative Court, ruled in favor of Kazem in the lawsuit he filed against the Minister of Justice to cancel the extension of the travel ban period, stating, "The extension of the travel ban period is canceled."
Kazem was subjected to a travel ban by the Ministry of Justice in July last year after being indicted on charges of violating the Act on the Protection of Dispatched Workers, etc., and later filed an administrative lawsuit when the travel ban period was extended.
He has already received a suspension of the effect of the travel ban extension on the 16th of last month and is currently able to travel.
Meanwhile, Kazem and five other executives of Korea GM are on trial at the Incheon District Court on charges of illegally dispatching 1,719 workers from 24 partner companies from September 1, 2017, to December 31, 2019.
