[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunju Lee] Joo Ho-young, Acting Party Leader and Floor Leader of the People Power Party, once again compared Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo to a "lion with a centipede inside," saying on the 23rd, "He has become a worm that first gnaws on the lion's body from within."

At the emergency committee meeting held that day, Acting Leader Joo said, "We are facing the most shameful and tragic Law Day in history," adding, "Chief Justice Kim Myung-soo has taken the lead in undermining the rule of law and the independence of the judiciary."

On Law Day, Acting Leader Joo held a press conference regarding the resignation of the Chief Justice in front of the Supreme Court main gate in Seocho-gu, Seoul, in the morning. The People Power Party has been conducting a solo protest demanding the Chief Justice's resignation for 44 consecutive days. Regarding this, Acting Leader Joo criticized Chief Justice Kim, saying, "When a lion dies, other animals are too scared to eat the lion's meat, but it is said that maggots inside the lion ruin it." In February, Acting Leader Joo also mentioned the "lion with a centipede inside" metaphor to criticize Chief Justice Kim.

Acting Leader Joo also pointed out Judges Kim Mi-ri and Yoon Jong-seok, saying, "The Seoul Central District Court usually transfers judges every 2 or 3 years, but Judge Yoon has been there for 6 years and Judge Kim for 4 years, gathering all major cases related to regime corruption there, either favoring the cases or delaying the trials." He added, "If given the opportunity, they should be thoroughly investigated and held accountable." He stated, "The Chief Justice is a prestigious position, but if he makes mistakes, he becomes a criminal in history. He has already become a criminal," and demanded, "He should apologize and step down."

Meanwhile, Acting Leader Joo said, "Ten members of the U.S. House of Representatives sent a letter to President Joe Biden urging the appointment of a North Korean human rights envoy, a position that has been vacant for four years," and criticized, "We have also left the position of director of the North Korean Human Rights Foundation vacant for over four years, which is a clear dereliction of duty." He also said, "President Moon Jae-in, a human rights lawyer, should not end his term with his eyes closed to North Korean human rights issues."
