[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Hyun-seok] Wave Labs, which recently obtained domestic and international certifications for wireless communication equipment for drones, is accelerating its Green New Deal projects, including the creation of a hydrogen drone testbed, in collaboration with Mungyeong City.
On the 23rd, Wave Labs announced that it signed a public-private joint investment contract for an economic base-type urban regeneration New Deal project with Mungyeong City and Mungyeong Factoria (SPC). Through this, the ‘Green Factoria’ project of Mungyeong City, in which Wave Labs is participating, is expected to gain momentum.
A company official stated, “With the completion of the public-private cooperation investment contract between Mungyeong City and Mungyeong Factoria, the urban regeneration Green New Deal project in Mungyeong City will be in full swing from the second half of this year, including the start of construction of hydrogen fuel cell power generation.” He added, “Through participation in this project, we expect to develop and introduce the country’s first drone-based control system.” He further noted, “By participating in the hydrogen drone testbed project, which is the first of its kind in Korea, Wave Labs’ drone business will also expand.”
Wave Labs tested the feasibility of hydrogen fuel cell drones, developed jointly with Doosan Mobility Innovation, through the government’s drone regulation sandbox project. They verified actual mission deployment feasibility by testing flight time, automatic mission flight accuracy, wind resistance, simulated fire detection, and discharge time.
Based on this, Wave Labs joined Mungyeong City’s Green New Deal project and plans to actively participate in the creation of a hydrogen fuel cell drone testbed, one of the ‘Green Factoria’ projects.
Additionally, Wave Labs plans to establish a hydrogen drone control center by installing drone tracking antennas developed by the company, enabling continuous control within a 15 km radius, and will expand its application areas to facility safety inspections and missing person searches in the future.
A company official said, “In addition to creating the hydrogen drone testbed and control center, we plan to operate a specialty product delivery system for visitors and shoot major tourist sites in Mungyeong City using hydrogen drones capable of long-duration flights.” He added, “Through this, we will also expand synergy effects with the tourism industry.”
