Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism Selects 622 Institutions for 'Humanities on the Road' Project Participation


[Asia Economy Reporter Choi Dong-hyun] The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism announced on the 23rd that it has selected 622 operating institutions to participate in this year's 'Humanities on the Road' project in collaboration with the Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency, the Korean Library Association, and the Korean Museum Association.


'Humanities on the Road' will conduct a total of 740 programs across ▲Library Humanities on the Road ▲Library Wisdom School ▲Living Culture Facility Humanities on the Road ▲Museum Humanities on the Road.


This year, programs will be operated to explore ways for community members to empathize, communicate, and heal each other amid the changes in daily life brought by COVID-19 and unprecedented disaster situations.


The Gangseo-gu Gomdallae Library in Seoul will run 'Humanistic Habits to Overcome Corona Blue,' exploring ways to heal COVID-19 depression through the humanities. The Daehwa Library in Goyang City, Gyeonggi Province, will hold 'Now, Environmental Time Caring for the Earth,' seeking ways to coexist together amid infectious diseases. The Jeonggwan Library in Busan will address 'Dialogue, Empathy, Communication, and Wisdom of Healing.' The Dolgoti Living Arts and Culture Center in Seoul will conduct 'Hello, Our Neighborhood?'


The 'Humanities on the Road Program' strictly adheres to quarantine rules according to the social distancing implementation stage and operates both face-to-face and non-face-to-face programs. Those wishing to participate can check program details and facilities on the official websites of 'Library Humanities on the Road,' the Korea Publication Culture Industry Promotion Agency, and 'Museum Humanities on the Road,' then apply to the respective institutions.


Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Hwang Hee said, "Through culture, which is the value that communities aspire to, we can realize social values such as overcoming COVID-19, resolving social conflicts, and integration," adding, "Philosophical and humanistic reflection is important for our society to move toward a better community and enrich individual lives."
