[Asia Economy Reporter Han Seung-gon] Videos of men engaging in obscene acts while chatting with women through chat apps are being circulated on social networking services (SNS) such as Twitter, causing an expected uproar. There are concerns that this may be a form of bodycam phishing crime.

Some men followed the instructions exactly, such as urinating while seated. It is reported that some of the male victims are minors.

According to MBC on the 22nd, videos of illegally recorded men are being distributed and sold on Twitter. The media reported that there are a total of 1,257 videos, most of which were recorded while men were performing obscene acts during video calls.

The perpetrators demanded bizarre specific actions from the men, suggesting that the acts were likely committed by the same individual. The men in the videos showed their faces and included a variety of individuals such as minors in school uniforms, soldiers in military uniforms, public officials, and dancers.

Most of them were in a state where their identities could be inferred, and it is reported that in 30 cases, the men’s real names were included in the file names.

Victim A told the media in an interview that he recently met a woman on a location-based dating app and had a video call with her. The woman then induced A to perform obscene acts, requesting him to "pose so that a specific body part is visible" or to "urinate while seated."

Afterwards, A suspected ‘bodycam phishing’ and confirmed that videos of men performing specific acts he had done were posted on overseas adult sites. It is also known that illegally recorded videos are being sold on Twitter and other platforms.

B, who admitted to having purchased videos, said, "In one video, a man introduced himself with his name, alma mater, and department during a video call." MBC reported that after checking the university’s official website, it was confirmed that the victim was actually enrolled in that department.

In this situation, A appealed, "For the thousands of men in the videos who may not even be aware of the damage, swift arrests and blocking of video distribution must be carried out."

Meanwhile, as circumstances have been detected where nude photos and videos of over 1,000 men are being illegally distributed through SNS, a Blue House national petition demanding a thorough investigation has been posted.

On the 22nd, the petition titled "Request for thorough investigation, punishment, and disclosure of identities related to the illegal filming and distribution of nude videos, the second n-bunbang incident," posted on the Blue House national petition board, had received over 7,000 endorsements as of 6 a.m. on the 23rd.

The petitioner stated, "Despite the law being amended due to the n-bunbang incident, recently, nude videos of over 1,000 men along with their occupations and names have been distributed on SNS," adding, "Moreover, these videos are being sold on overseas adult sites and SNS, constituting a heinous crime against humanity."

They continued, "This is an atrocious crime that sells videos of unspeakably bizarre acts and leaks personal information," and urged, "We call for a thorough investigation and punishment to ensure that sexual crimes in the shadows never happen again."
