Hannam University Selected as 'Data Youth Campus Operating University' for 2 Consecutive Years

[Asia Economy (Daejeon) Reporter Jeong Il-woong] Hannam University’s Department of Big Data Applications has been selected as a ‘Data Youth Campus Operating University’ for two consecutive years.

According to Hannam University on the 23rd, the Data Youth Campus Operating Universities are selected by the Ministry of Science and ICT and organized by the Korea Data Industry Promotion Agency.

The university’s Department of Big Data Applications achieved the distinction of being selected as a Data Youth Campus Operating University for two consecutive years, following last year and this year.

As a result of the selection, the department will operate the ‘Smart City Artificial Intelligence and Big Data Utilization Course (hereinafter referred to as the Utilization Course)’ for six months starting this month.

The Utilization Course aims to train experts who solve urban problems using big data.

In particular, it is meaningful in that it comprehensively includes a differentiated short-term intensive program such as theory necessary for practical work and team projects using actual data, fostering talent that can be immediately deployed in practical projects.

Special lectures and project mentors in the Utilization Course will be provided by field experts from the Daejeon City Smart Transportation Team, KAIST, Korea Transport Institute, and Socar Inc.

The university expects that with the participation of these experts, the Utilization Course will be able to proceed in a one-stop manner from theory necessary for practical work to analysis using actual data.

Meanwhile, the Department of Big Data Applications at Hannam University was newly established last year and was selected for the Data Youth Campus project in its inaugural year. Additionally, during the project operation, it stood out by being selected as an excellent team in a nationwide university competition.

The Utilization Course is fully funded by the government and targets third- and fourth-year undergraduates. Participants will be recruited from the 26th of this month until the 28th of next month, followed by a 10-week schedule of in-person education and project execution during July and August.
