The Korea ROTC Central Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Korean Red Cross on the morning of April 22 at the ROTC Central Hall located in Seocho-gu, Seoul.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] The Korea ROTC Central Association (President Park Jin-seo) held the ‘ROTC Blood Donation Service Day’ event on the 22nd at the ROTC Central Hall and blood donation centers nationwide to personally practice life-sharing as officers and to deliver new hope of life to neighbors in need, marking the 60th anniversary of the founding of ROTC.
Before the nationwide blood donation event, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with the Korean Red Cross at the ROTC Central Hall located in Seocho-gu, Seoul, in the morning of the same day.
Attended by President Park Jin-seo and executives of the ROTC Central Association, as well as Cho Nam-seon, head of the Blood Management Headquarters of the Korean Red Cross, and other related parties from both sides, the ROTC Central Association plans to actively promote a voluntary blood donation culture by regularly conducting blood donation campaigns.
Also on this day, alumni including executives and employees of the ROTC Central Association participated in the blood donation campaign on the blood donation bus set up in front of the ROTC Central Hall. The event was held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with about 30 ROTC alumni, including Park Seung-seop, chairman of the ROTC Central Association Blood Donation Committee who has donated blood 574 times, donating blood in groups of three every 30 minutes considering COVID-19 precautions.
At the same time, ROTC alumni and their families, candidates (university students), and Junior ROTC students (high school students) visited blood donation centers and blood donation cafes nationwide to participate in the blood donation campaign.
In particular, alumni who could not participate in the blood donation campaign on this day donated their blood donation certificates to the ROTC Central Association, which plans to collect these certificates and deliver them to the Korean Red Cross.
President Park Jin-seo of the Central Association said, “Our Korea ROTC Central Association has been conducting the ‘Blood Donation 1004 Campaign,’ collecting 1,004 blood donation certificates annually to create the image of ROTC that ‘is loyal to the country and serves the people.’ On June 1, the anniversary of the founding of ROTC, we have donated blood donation certificates to the Korean Red Cross and the Korea Leukemia Children's Foundation.” He added, “With this MOU with the Korean Red Cross, we will carry out a more systematic and active blood donation campaign to take the lead in establishing a healthy blood donation culture throughout our society.”
Kim Seok-hyun, head of the ROTC Central Association Volunteer Group, which organized this blood donation event, said, “In the very difficult situation of blood supply due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19, we hope that this Blood Donation Service Day, in which our ROTC alumni participated together, will help secure blood supply and bring dreams and hope to neighbors who are struggling and in need.”
