A welfare officer from Dongdaemun-gu visited Francis House in Jegi-dong on the 20th to conduct outreach welfare consultations.
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Yoo Deok-yeol) deployed welfare officers on the 20th to identify and support marginalized groups in welfare blind spots, conducting customized support consultations at Francis House located in Jegi-dong.
The welfare officers deployed that day were experienced public officials who have been in charge of welfare work for over 30 years, including the Head of Welfare Policy Division and the Head of Social Welfare Division.
Based on their extensive experience and knowledge, they conducted consultations that greatly contributed to resolving the welfare-related questions of the clients.
The main consultation topics included national basic livelihood security benefits, livelihood difficulties, basic pension, rental housing, and other daily life inconveniences. Ten clients were able to have their issues resolved immediately on site.
The district announced that the remaining clients will receive customized support through additional investigations and follow-up measures.
Francis House has been providing meals since 1988 for those who have difficulty securing food. Approximately 300 people, including elderly living alone and marginalized groups, can have lunch here on days excluding Wednesdays and Sundays. On the second floor of the facility, there is a shelter for the homeless where they can watch TV or play Baduk to escape the cold or heat.
There is also a space available for laundry and showering.
Yoo Deok-yeol, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “As more residents are facing difficulties due to COVID-19, outreach welfare services are increasingly necessary. I express my gratitude to the officers who conducted consultations personally despite their busy schedules, and we will continue to strive to provide more professional welfare services to residents in the future.”
