[Photo] Gangseo-gu, Seoul, Awarded 'Excellence Prize' in 2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Project

Noh Hyun-song, Mayor of Gangseo District (left), received the '2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Project Outstanding Autonomous District Plaque' from Kim Jin-gon, Secretary General of the Seoul Social Welfare Community Chest, in the mayor's office on the afternoon of the 22nd.

[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Noh Hyun-song) was selected as an excellent autonomous district in the ‘2021 Hope Ondol Warm Winter Project Evaluation’ hosted by the Seoul Community Chest of Korea on the 22nd.

On the afternoon of the same day, District Mayor Noh Hyun-song received a plaque of commendation from Kim Jin-gon, Secretary General of the Seoul Community Chest of Korea, who visited the district office.

Gangseo-gu raised a total of 2,892,160,000 KRW in donations and goods through fundraising activities conducted over three months from November last year to February this year.

This amount represents a 4.4% increase compared to last year’s fundraising amount of 2,770,000,000 KRW.

The donated funds and goods are used through the Seoul Community Chest of Korea to support living expenses, medical costs, education expenses, and more for vulnerable groups.

Following the award ceremony for the excellent autonomous district, a ‘Neighbor Helping Goods’ delivery ceremony was also held.

On the day, Seo Dae-yeop, CEO of FG Arcs, who visited the district office, donated 100,000 dental masks to be used for neighbors struggling due to COVID-19.

The donated masks will be distributed to social welfare facilities and low-income residents in the area.

District Mayor Noh Hyun-song said, “The reason we were able to achieve such results despite the difficult situation caused by COVID-19 is thanks to the interest and support from the residents,” and added, “I deeply thank everyone who put neighbors first and participated in the fundraising activities.”
