IT education platform 'Inflearn,' operated by Inf랩 (CEO Hyungjoo Lee), announced on the 22nd that it has secured 5 billion KRW in Series A funding from Korea Investment Partners, Mirae Asset Capital, and Bon Angels (follow-up investment).
'Inflearn' provides a service where individuals with job-related knowledge in the IT field offer lectures, allowing anyone to learn. The main categories consist of practical content in IT technology fields such as programming, design, artificial intelligence, and data science.
Inflearn has recently recorded steady growth with 2 million cumulative learners, 14 million learning sessions, annual sales of 6 billion KRW, 340% growth in corporate clients over two years, and 870% sales growth over two years. The Inflearn service metrics, which focus solely on IT job fields and show steep growth, are noteworthy in the Korean online education market, which is mainly centered on hobbies, language learning, and entrance exams.
The depth of content, ranging from beginner levels that non-majors can easily start with to the latest technologies that can be immediately applied in the field, is a highly differentiating factor. This is also why IT professionals account for 50% of Inflearn's total 450,000 users.
Hyungjoo Lee, CEO of Inf랩, stated, “Through this investment, we plan to improve usability for both knowledge sharers and learners and strengthen various personalization features. IT technical job groups such as developers and data scientists are receiving great attention. We want to create a service that contains all the knowledge for beginners who want to enter these fields and practitioners who want to develop further to grow themselves. Many industries are struggling to integrate IT technology. We will be the solution through Inflearn, where anyone can universally learn advanced technical information.”
Jung Hwamok, Director at Korea Investment Partners who led the investment, said, "With about 130,000 hours of monthly learning time recently from 440,000 users, Inflearn is an edutech-based open platform for job/practical education, and we have especially strived to secure IT education content, which has high workforce demand across all industries. We decided to invest as the flywheel required for an open platform has started to operate, driven by an increase in high-quality new content based on loyalty indicators from both users and instructors, high purchase conversion rates, and rapid expansion of development-related jobs.”
