[Asia Economy Reporter Hyunwoo Lee] A Korean expatriate in her 40s living in Shanghai, China, was found dead at her home three days after receiving the Sinopharm vaccine, prompting Chinese authorities to launch an investigation. The expatriate was reported to have no underlying health conditions.


According to the Shanghai Korean community on the 22nd, a woman in her 40s, identified as Ms. A, was found dead in her bedroom by her family, who then reported it to the Chinese public security authorities. While the exact cause of death is not yet known, it is reported that Ms. A had received a Chinese-made COVID-19 vaccine three days prior.


Ms. A received the COVID-19 vaccine developed by China’s Sinopharm at a hospital in Shanghai on the 19th. She was known to have no special underlying health conditions but reportedly experienced discomfort such as nausea after the vaccination.
