Blockchain, Technology Management, Smart Manufacturing ... Pukyong National University, UNIST, and Gyeongsang National University to Jointly Operate 'Graduate School of Technology Management'


[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Three graduate schools specializing in ‘smart’ disciplines that will drive the future have united to nurture talent.


On the 21st, Pukyong National University Graduate School of Technology Management (MOT, Dean Lee Woon-sik) signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST) Graduate School of Technology Management (MOT, Dean Choi Young-rok) and Gyeongsang National University Graduate School Department of Technology Management (Department Head Jeon Jeong-hwan) to cultivate professionals equipped with practical skills and expertise. The signing ceremony was held online to prevent the spread of COVID-19.


Through this agreement, the universities plan to cooperate on △ operating joint education programs related to 4th Industrial Revolution technologies (co-learning programs) and mutual personnel exchange △ promoting industry-academia cooperation for convergent technology commercialization and global technology commercialization △ joint efforts for the advancement of the technology management field.


Pukyong National University MOT, established in March 2016, pursues the vision of being ‘a hub for innovation in core industries of the Southeast region and the creation of startups and new industries.’ It focuses on fostering innovative leaders for the growth of key industries such as automotive parts, shipbuilding, and machinery in the Southeast region, as well as new industries like blockchain technology commercialization. It also works on building an ecosystem for convergent technology commercialization and projects for creating and disseminating region-tailored technology management knowledge.


UNIST MOT, founded in March 2016, aims to create and disseminate technology management knowledge, spread a culture and capabilities of technological innovation in the industry, and nurture technology management professionals and entrepreneurs. It strives to achieve the vision of being a ‘global leading graduate school in technology management.’


The Department of Technology Management at Gyeongsang National University Graduate School cultivates core technology management talents in smart manufacturing (S), technology commercialization (T), AI/big data (A), R&D management (R), and Gyeongnam (G) to revitalize the machinery and aerospace industries in Gyeongnam.


Dean Lee Woon-sik of Pukyong National University MOT stated, “We will actively strive to nurture talent that contributes to the development of the Southeast region’s innovation ecosystem through close cooperation such as operating co-learning programs among the three graduate schools in the Southeast region.”


Pukyong National University MOT, UNIST MOT, and Gyeongsang National University Graduate School Department of Technology Management have been conducting a specialized human resource development project for the diffusion of convergent technology commercialization, led by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, since 2020.
