[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Seung-hyun Jeong] The Jeonnam Regional Council of the National Unification Advisory Council (Vice Chairman Han Sang-won) held the '1st Jeonnam Peaceful Unification Forum' on the 21st and engaged in a heated discussion on the topic of the South-North Armistice Declaration and Peace Agreement Measures.

The forum was held at the conference room of Naju City Hall in Jeonnam Province, with 50 advisory members and forum participants from 11 councils in the eastern Jeonnam region (Naju, Yeosu, Suncheon, Gwangyang, Jangseong, Gokseong, Gurye, Goheung, Boseong, Hwasun, Damyang-gun) attending.

The forum began with an opening address by Lee Gil-seon, chairman of the Naju Council of the National Unification Advisory Council, followed by a keynote presentation titled "North Korea at Present and the Armistice Declaration" by Professor Choi Soon-mi of the Aju Unification Research Institute.

The subsequent comprehensive discussion was led by Kim Joo-hwan, research director of the Jeonnam Peaceful Unification Forum, gathering opinions from advisory members and forum participants on the armistice declaration, peace agreement, and peaceful unification measures.

Kim Nam-jung, secretary of the Jeonnam Regional Council of the National Unification Advisory Council, stated, "Despite the great upheaval caused by COVID-19, it is very meaningful to gather opinions for peaceful unification in the Jeonnam region," and emphasized, "I hope this dialogue platform will not end as a mere show event but will become a stepping stone for South-North Korean unification and further serve as a foundation to bear the future of the Korean Peninsula."
