[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Choi Jae-ho] Gimcheon City (Mayor Kim Chung-seop) announced on the 22nd that it has been selected as the executing institution for the '2021 Reading Books with Libraries' contest project hosted by the National Library for Children and Young Adults.
The 'Reading Books with Libraries' project is a program that supports providing various reading programs to children from information-vulnerable groups to contribute to the cultivation of proper emotions and the formation of reading habits.
Following the Pureun Dream Regional Children's Center last year, Gimcheon City will carry out this project at the Bugok Regional Children's Center starting in May this year. Professional reading instructors and librarians visit local children's centers directly to conduct reading sessions, book play post-reading activities, and cultural experience programs.
Baek Seon-ju, director of the municipal library, stated, "Through this community-based reading project that visits children from vulnerable groups who have difficulty using libraries, we hope that participating children will become familiar with books and libraries, improve their reading skills, and help establish proper values."
