Continuous Monitoring of Unauthorized Departures and Abnormal Symptoms Among Self-Quarantined Individuals Since Last Year
[Asia Economy Reporter Park Jong-il] Recently, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases has surged, leading to an increase in individuals under self-quarantine.
Dongjak-gu (District Mayor Lee Chang-woo) is making every effort to manage self-quarantined individuals within the district.
Self-quarantined individuals are classified into two types.
First, those who have had close contact with domestic confirmed cases and have been ordered to self-quarantine by the public health center; second, those who have entered the country from overseas. All must undergo mandatory self-quarantine for 14 days at designated locations (home, residence, quarantine facilities, etc.).
Since March of last year, at the early stage of the COVID-19 pandemic, the district formed a dedicated T/F team for managing self-quarantined individuals, matching each person under management with a dedicated public official on a 1:1 basis to conduct symptom checks at least three times a day and continuous monitoring to prevent unauthorized departures.
Since the formation of the dedicated management team, approximately 15,600 self-quarantined individuals have been monitored cumulatively, with about 5,800 on-site visits and surprise inspections conducted to prevent unauthorized departures.
Through these efforts, 36 cases of unauthorized departures have been detected so far, and those identified have been subject to complaints, investigation requests, and guidance measures.
Additionally, using a GIS system linked with GPS, the movements of self-quarantined individuals are tracked and managed, and a 24-hour emergency duty system by the dedicated self-quarantine team is in place to immediately respond to unexpected situations such as unauthorized departures.
During holiday periods, joint inspections are conducted together with the Dongjak Police Station.
As of April 19, 2021, the total number of self-quarantined individuals in Dongjak-gu is 636, with an average of 50 to 70 new self-quarantined individuals being added or released daily.
The district continuously conducts random on-site inspections to prevent unauthorized departures and check for abnormal health symptoms among self-quarantined individuals. Recently, with the start of the new semester, various support measures to block infectious diseases have been implemented for overseas students entering the district from universities such as Chung-Ang University, Soongsil University, and Chongshin University, including providing rental phones and on-site installation support for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety’s self-quarantine safety protection app.
Im Chang-seop, Director of Safety and Disaster Management, stated, “We will continue to thoroughly block community infections and protect residents’ safety from COVID-19 through meticulous, systematic, and prompt management of self-quarantined individuals.”
