Contribution to the Activation of ICT Convergence Content Sector, Active Participation in Social Volunteer Activities

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Kim Chi-yong, Dean of the ICT College of Engineering (Professor of Game Engineering) at Dong-Eui University (President Han Su-hwan), received the Presidential Citation at the ‘2021 Science and Information and Communication Day Ceremony’ held on the 21st.
The ceremony was hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and the Korea Communications Commission. Minister Choi Ki-young of the Ministry of Science and ICT and about 70 representatives of government award recipients attended the ceremony, while the remaining awardees participated via online video connection.
Professor Kim currently serves as the Dean of the ICT College of Engineering at Dong-Eui University and served as the 17th President of the Korea Multimedia Society from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2020, for two years.
Through the Korea Multimedia Society, Professor Kim contributed to the revitalization of the ICT convergence content field and enhanced the national prestige through various domestic and international events.
He has actively engaged in various volunteer activities for the development of local cultural content, serving as the Chief Advisory Professor for the Busan City Video Animation Industry, Chief Advisory Professor for School Culture and Arts Education at the Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, and Chairman of the Video Content Division of the Busan Industry-Academia-Government Council Future Industry Cluster.
He was also recognized for his active social contributions in volunteer work for the disabled, human rights activities, ICT research, and nurturing outstanding talents.
Professor Kim is the Chairperson of the Organizing Committee for the 2022 Busan World Disabled Persons’ Games held in Busan and actively participates in activities supporting socially vulnerable groups such as the disabled, women, and multicultural families.
He supports youth in freely creating and enjoying culture through scholarship grants via the Yeongilman Forum, the Youth Global Leadership Forum, the Busanjin Cultural Foundation, the Gyeongbuk Cultural Foundation, and the Pohang Cultural Foundation.
Professor Kim said, “Along with the Korea Multimedia Society, I am conducting academic activities through various societies and associations such as the Korea Convergence Software Society, the Korea Computer Graphics Society, the Busan Video Animation Forum, and the Korea Modern Design Association. I also serve as an advisory member for many content companies in Busan, striving to strengthen the competitiveness of content companies.”
He added, “I will continue to work harder for academic development and global talent cultivation by conducting research with excellent students in the fields of game content, animation, video, design, virtual reality, and artificial intelligence related to the 4th Industrial Revolution, and presenting papers (journals) and at academic conferences,” he said in his acceptance speech.
