[Asia Economy Reporter Ra Young-cheol] Recently, with an average of about 20 daily COVID-19 confirmed cases occurring throughout the Goyang area, an additional 26 COVID-19 cases have been confirmed due to religious facilities and contact with acquaintances.

According to Goyang City on the 21st, a total of 26 people tested positive for COVID-19, including 11 on the 19th and 15 on the 20th.

By cause, 7 cases are related to a church located in Deogyang-gu, 8 cases from contact with acquaintances, 5 cases from family transmission, 2 cases from contact with confirmed patients from other regions, and 4 cases are under investigation for infection routes.

By region, 21 cases are from Deogyang-gu and 5 cases from Ilsanseo-gu.

In particular, regarding the church located in Deogyang-gu, a total of 17 people (14 Goyang citizens and 3 Paju citizens) tested positive: 1 on the 16th, 1 on the 17th, 1 on the 18th, 11 on the 19th, and 3 as of 4 p.m. on the 20th.

Among 61 people tested, including attendees of in-person worship services and their families, 17 tested positive. Disaster alert messages were sent out, and additional testing is underway for worship attendees and their contacts.

The city health authorities disinfected the entire church area and issued a gathering ban order along with facility closure measures.

Meanwhile, as of 4 p.m. on the 20th, the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Goyang City is 2,711, with 2,613 confirmed cases among Goyang citizens (2,530 domestic infections and 83 overseas infections).
